Please note:  Greater NY Councils is currently looking to hire a Part Time Scout Shop Manager:

Description: Located at the main entrance of William H Pouch Scout Camp, the Scout shop plays an important role in providing information and resources for visitors and campers. The Part-Time Store Manager manages the store, providing customer service to shoppers and campers as necessary.

Specific Duties:

  • Oversee daily operations of the camp’s trading post, including inventory management and restocking of supplies.
  • Ensure the trading post is clean, organized, and welcoming for campers and staff.
  • Assist with camper check-in, providing guidance and a friendly atmosphere to families and scouts.
  • Handle cash register transactions, manage financial records, and process payments.
  • Provide customer service by answering questions and offering camp-related products and services.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of snacks, gear, and camp merchandise.
  • Assist with organizing and coordinating trading post events or sales promotions.
  • Ensure all safety and camp policies are followed within the trading post.
  • Collaborate with leadership to report inventory needs and customer feedback.
  • Maintain refrigeration charts on refrigerators and freezers three times daily.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Be a registered member or be willing to be registered as an adult leader within with Scouting America.
  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, or a management role preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively with campers, families, and staff.
  • Ability to manage cash transactions and handle financial records accurately.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a friendly, helpful attitude.
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate items, such as merchandise or supplies.
  • Previous experience in a camp or outdoor environment is a plus but not required.

Compensation: Part-Time, Hourly ($18/hr, Weekdays, Tuesdays through Fridays, min 16 hours per week)
